As part of activities marking its 20th anniversary, the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, Dakibiyu District, Kubwa Branch—popularly known as The Peculiar People—has donated a borehole to the Pese Community in Bwari Area Council of the FCT.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Pastor Dayo Arogundade of the Mega Youth Chapel, who anchored the project on behalf of the church and the anniversary committee, explained the motivation behind the gesture.

“A couple of months ago, we visited this community for evangelism, during which some residents cried out about their lack of water and electricity. We left thinking about what we could do, and to the glory of God, we are here today to donate this borehole to the Pese Community,” she said.

The Chief of Pese Community, Chief Saidu Ibrahim, expressed immense joy as he welcomed the church to the ceremony.

“If anyone else is not happy, I am. I am more than happy for your kindness to this community. You have solved one of our major problems. We need a lot of things, but this is very important,” he said.

Mr. Martins Adebayo, Secretary of the Pese Community, also expressed gratitude on behalf of the residents. He recounted the process leading to the completion of the project and praised the church for fulfilling its promise.

Delivering a brief sermon titled Elim, Pastor Kayode Aliyu, Shepherd-in-Charge of the Gwarinpa Chapel, congratulated the community and emphasized the spiritual significance of the gesture.

“What the church brings today is not just water, but the living water. I encourage everyone to embrace the message of the Lord Jesus Christ,” he said.

Performing the commissioning, Senior Pastor of The Peculiar Church, Special Apostle Pastor Alex Ogundipe, assured the community of the church’s ongoing support.

“On behalf of everyone who made this possible, and in the name of the Lord Jesus that we serve, I am happy to commission and present this borehole to the people of Pese Community,” he said, as he cut the commissioning tape.

He further charged the community to take full ownership of the project through proper maintenance and protection.

“I challenge the 10-man management committee to ensure this water project continues to serve the people. If we return here in a year and find it still functional, we will donate another one,” he promised.

Overcome with joy, Mrs. Chioma Mbah, Women Leader of the Pese Community, fetched a bowl of water from the newly commissioned borehole and called on fellow women to celebrate.

“As women, we are the most affected. Many times, we go around carrying our babies on our backs in search of water. With this, things will change. We are happy! We are happy!” she chanted, to a chorus of cheers from the women present.

The commissioning of the water project is the last of a line up of prgrammes commemoraring the Church’s 20 years anniversary.
