In a bid to bolster the welfare of troops in the North East theatre of operations, Major General W. Shuaibu, the Theatre Commander of Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, commissioned a solar-powered borehole at the Nigeria Police Camp located at 333 Artillery Regiment Barracks Njimtilo, Maiduguri, on May 14, 2024.

During the ceremony, General Shuaibu emphasised that the event underscored one of the fundamental principles of the Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. T.A. Lagbaja’s administration, which prioritizes the welfare of troops and their families.

He explained that the project aimed to ensure accessible water in the Njimtilo camp for both troops and other sister agencies, highlighting its significance in meeting the water needs of soldiers and other security personnel in the area. General Shuaibu expressed gratitude to the COAS for prioritizing the welfare and well-being of troops.

In his address, Brigadier General O.O. Yakubu, the Nigeria Police Coordinator, described the occasion as a significant milestone for the Special Forces Mobile Police Camp Njimtilo. He emphasised that the construction of the borehole was essential to complement government efforts in addressing water challenges faced by troops and host communities, as water is a fundamental human need crucial for life and well-being.

The event included a tour of the facility, group photographs, and addresses to Mobile Police (MOPOL) personnel, marking a proactive step towards enhancing the welfare of security personnel in the region.
