Three Brothers Charged with Murder Over Alleged Killing of Mother’s Boyfriend in Eswatini

Three brothers have been charged with murder in Eswatini after they allegedly beat their mother’s boyfriend to death over claims that he was involved in a romantic relationship with her.

The suspects, identified as Mlondi Mbuli, 25, Sakhelwe Mbuli, 18, and Lindani Mdziniso, 23, appeared before the Mbabane Magistrates Court over the alleged killing of Njabulo Ngwenya, which reportedly occurred on June 28, 2026, in Hholoshini, in the Hhohho Region.

During the court proceedings, Principal Magistrate Sfiso Vilakati ordered that the three defendants remain in custody until July 10, pending the transfer of the case to the High Court, where murder cases are typically heard.

According to investigators, the suspects allegedly attacked the victim with bricks, stones and sticks, while also punching and kicking him repeatedly, inflicting injuries that proved fatal.

Police said the alleged assault was linked to accusations that Ngwenya was involved in a relationship with the brothers’ biological mother.

The incident was reported after Sibongile Motsa allegedly discovered her son’s body inside her sister’s home at about 1 a.m. on June 28 and alerted the Royal Eswatini Police Service.

Following an investigation, police arrested the three brothers, who were remanded in custody after their initial court appearance.

Authorities have not released additional details beyond the information presented during the preliminary hearing. The case has attracted significant public attention across Eswatini as legal proceedings continue.
