The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives, safeguarding livelihoods and delivering the dividends of democracy to Nigerians as efforts continue to strengthen democratic governance and reposition the nation’s economy.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the assurance on Saturday while speaking as a guest on Radio Link, a public participation programme on Radio Nigeria held to commemorate 27 years of uninterrupted democratic rule and the third anniversary of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to the minister, the administration remains focused on tackling security challenges across the country through decisive measures aimed at neutralising threats, restoring peace and creating an environment where citizens can live and work safely.

“The Tinubu administration, while acknowledging the security challenges in parts of the country, is nevertheless relentlessly applying decisive measures to neutralize threats, restore peace, and create a secure environment where citizens can live, work, and prosper,” he said.

On the economy, Idris expressed optimism that the administration’s reforms are beginning to yield positive results, noting that key economic indicators suggest a gradual path toward recovery, stability and sustainable growth.

He described June 12 as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s democratic journey, saying it represents the resilience, courage and collective aspiration of Nigerians for accountable governance.

The minister urged citizens to uphold the values of transparency, patriotism and national unity, which he said remain central to the nation’s democratic development.

During the one-hour interactive programme, several callers commended the administration’s efforts in governance and economic reforms, while others called for greater action to address insecurity, stabilise the economy and ensure credible electoral processes.

The engagement formed part of activities marking Democracy Day celebrations and provided a platform for citizens to share their views on governance and national development.

Rabiu Ibrahim, Special Assistant (Media) to the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, issued the statement on June 13, 2026.
