Tinubu Administration Highlights Road Projects in North-West Ahead of Kaduna APC Rally
The Federal Government has highlighted ongoing and completed road infrastructure projects across Nigeria’s North-West region ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally scheduled to hold in Kaduna on Saturday.
According to the project details released ahead of the rally, motorists travelling from Abuja to Kaduna at night can observe street lighting along an 81-kilometre stretch of the Abuja–Kaduna highway, described as a concrete road constructed under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The administration said it is committed to delivering a total of 4,084 kilometres of roads across the North-West, including inherited and newly initiated projects.
The figures provided indicate that 348 kilometres of inherited and new road projects have been completed, while 1,811 kilometres of road projects are at various stages of completion.
Major completed road projects
Among the key projects highlighted by the Federal Government are sections of the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano highway and the Kaduna–Pambeguwa road.
The Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano highway project includes:
Lot 1: 118 kilometres completed, including an 81-kilometre section constructed using Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement (CRCP), scheduled for commissioning by President Tinubu at the rally ground on October 24, 2026.
Lot 2: 164 kilometres completed using CRCP.
Another highlighted project is the 77-kilometre Kaduna–Pambeguwa road, which is scheduled for commissioning by the President during the APC rally in Jos, Plateau State.
Ongoing road projects across the North-West
The Federal Government also listed several major road projects currently under construction across the region.
The Sokoto–Badagry dual carriageway, described as the second legacy project of the Renewed Hope administration, includes the following sections:
Sokoto section: 120 kilometres of road, representing 240 kilometres of dualised carriageway, with construction reported to be approximately 60 per cent complete.
Kebbi section: 254 kilometres, representing 508 kilometres of dualised carriageway, with construction reported to be 40 per cent complete.
Other ongoing projects include the 350-kilometre Sokoto–Zamfara–Zaria road, being dualised across four sections with an average completion rate of 30 per cent.
The list also includes the 153-kilometre Kano–Kongolam road, the 132-kilometre Zaria–Hunkuyi road and the 123-kilometre Mando–Birnin Gwari road.
The government further reported that 149 emergency road projects had been completed.
Railway infrastructure plans
Beyond road construction, the project details also highlighted proposed railway infrastructure investments in the region.
These include a Kaduna metropolitan rail line within Kaduna State, estimated at $865 million, and a light rail project within the Kano metropolitan area, valued at more than ₦1 trillion.
The proposed railway projects are intended to complement road infrastructure and improve transportation connectivity in the North-West.
The infrastructure update comes as Kaduna prepares to host the APC presidential campaign rally, with the Federal Government presenting its road and transport projects as part of its broader infrastructure development agenda under President Tinubu.
