Tinubu Commissions 1,187 New Police Officers at Nigeria Police Academy Passing Out Parade

President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has commissioned 1,187 cadets of Regular Course 7 into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) as Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs).

The commissioning took place today, 29th November 2025, during a colourful Passing Out Parade (POP) held at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State. The event marked the completion of five years of rigorous academic and professional training by the cadets, who also earned Bachelor’s degrees in various disciplines as part of their preparation for modern policing.

President Tinubu, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, CON, congratulated the new officers and urged them to uphold integrity, professionalism, and respect for human rights in their service. He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to comprehensive police reform, improved welfare, and stronger operational capacity across the Force.

The ceremony drew an array of high-profile guests, including Shanta Emily Knowles, Head of the Royal Bahamas Police Force; Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf; representatives of the Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs; members of the National Assembly; top government officials; heads of security agencies; senior serving and retired police officers; the Provost and faculty of the Academy; as well as traditional rulers, religious leaders, parents, and well-wishers.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, commended the graduating officers for their discipline and perseverance. He reminded them that effective policing is grounded in character, discipline, and professionalism, urging them to commit fully to protecting lives and property, maintaining law and order, and restoring public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.

The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to producing highly trained, educated, and professional officers equipped to address evolving security challenges across the country.
