Tinubu Extends 2025 Budget Implementation to December 31, 2026

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed the Appropriation (Amendment) (No. 4) Bill, 2025, into law, extending the implementation period of the 2025 budget from September 30 to December 31, 2026.

The President’s assent followed the swift passage of the amendment by the Senate and the House of Representatives on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

The extension will allow Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) additional time to complete ongoing capital projects and ensure that funds already appropriated are fully utilised for the benefit of Nigerians.

According to the Presidency, the extension will also prevent disruptions to critical government programmes and ongoing projects as the administration continues its implementation efforts.

President Tinubu commended the leadership and members of the National Assembly for their prompt consideration and passage of the bill.

He described the development as a further demonstration of cooperation between the Executive and Legislature in advancing national development.

The statement was signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
