Tinubu Reaffirms Commitment to Nationwide Infrastructure Expansion, Inaugurates OSEX Carriageways in Abuja
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding critical infrastructure across Nigeria, saying ongoing projects are aimed at improving connectivity, easing transportation, and driving economic growth.
The President gave the assurance on Tuesday during the inauguration of the two main carriageways of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX), stretching from Ring Road 1 by the Gudu Cemetery to Ring Road 2 at the Kabusa Junction in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Representing the President at the event, Senate President Godswill Akpabio described the project as a major milestone in strengthening Abuja’s transportation network and enhancing mobility within the capital city.
He commended the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as the timely delivery and precision in executing the project, noting that it reflects the administration’s broader agenda of infrastructure renewal.
The Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX), which was executed in phases, is expected to serve as a key transport corridor linking central Abuja with rapidly expanding districts, thereby reducing traffic congestion and improving urban accessibility.
Wike, speaking at the inauguration, described the project as a promise made and fulfilled, emphasizing that the development aligns with efforts to modernize the Federal Capital Territory and improve the quality of life for residents.
Stakeholders at the event described the OSEX as a critical transport backbone for Abuja, designed to enhance inter-district connectivity and support the city’s growing population and economic activities.
The Federal Government reiterated that similar infrastructure projects will continue across the country as part of efforts to strengthen national development and urban transformation.
