The University of Abuja was engulfed in grief yesterday following the tragic passing of Michael Angelo, a 400-level student who had just completed his final examination.

Michael had joyfully wrapped up his university journey, concluding with his last paper in Chemistry on Tuesday. Like many graduating students, he participated in the customary signing-out ceremony to mark the end of his academic pursuit.

Eyewitnesses revealed that the celebratory atmosphere took an unfortunate turn when students engaging in car racing were dispersed from the school field due to security concerns. Undeterred, they continued their exuberant revelry outside the campus.

Tragically, this would be Michael’s final day. Fate dealt a cruel hand, as he, along with fellow celebrants, was atop a friend’s car when he fell during what was described as a fast-speeding drive. Regrettably, Michael succumbed to the accident, losing his life instantly.

As of press time, the University authorities have not officially confirmed this heartbreaking incident. The untimely demise of this promising student casts a sombre shadow over the university community, leaving friends, family, and peers in mourning.
