Tribunal sacks Nasarawa Gov, declares PDP’s candidate winner

The Nasarawa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has nullified the election of Governor Abdullahi Sule and declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), David Ombugadu as the winner.

In the judgement delivered virtually on Monday, the chairman of the tribunal, Justice Ezekiel Ajayi declared Emmanuel Ombugadu of the PDP as the lawfully elected governor of Nasarawa State.

The tribunal began sitting by 9: 35 a.m., with the case between Governor Abdullahi Sule and the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP), thereafter the APC and NNPP’ Abdullahi Maidoya

The judges were said to be transmitting the judgment from an undisclosed location via Zoom for “security reasons”.

The tribunal did not share a link for interested persons to link up, as a 33-inch television, connected to a public address system, was mounted for the viewing and listening of counsels and other party supporters.

It was observed that the judgement being delivered via Zoom is as same as in the live courtroom, given the workable facilities installed, just as all counsels announced their appearances.
