Troops Apprehend Gang Terrorising Ovia South West in Edo State
In a relentless effort to eradicate criminal activities in Edo State, troops from Headquarters 4 Brigade Nigerian Army executed a raid on the hideouts of suspected criminal gangs in Gbelebu village, Okomu forest, Ovia South West Local Government Area.
The operation, conducted on Thursday, February 22, 2024, was initiated based on credible intelligence.
The notorious criminal, Joshua Ewaiken, also known as General, managed to evade capture, having been on the brigade’s watchlist. However, his gang members were not as fortunate. Among those apprehended are Shell Joshua, Godspower Joshua (siblings of the wanted suspect), Obuh Ayawe, and Japhet Uyaboerizha.
Shell Joshua and his associates were involved in a range of criminal activities, including kidnapping, robbery, extortion, rape, unlawful possession of firearms, and terrorising villagers and neighbouring communities.
The successful operation led to the recovery of a Toyota Highlander vehicle, assorted illicit drugs, and a mobile phone. The captured suspects are currently in the custody of the troops, awaiting further investigations.
