Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), working in collaboration with the Benue State Civil Protection Guards, have rescued a kidnapped victim during a swift security operation in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.

Security sources said the operation was carried out in the early hours of July 8, following credible intelligence received by troops stationed at Tor-Donga regarding the abduction of a resident in Igyudu community.

Acting promptly on the intelligence, the joint security team mobilised to the scene and advanced on the kidnappers’ suspected location. On sighting the approaching troops, the abductors reportedly abandoned their victim and fled into the surrounding bush.

The rescued victim was immediately evacuated to a medical facility, where he is receiving treatment and undergoing medical evaluation.

Military sources disclosed that troops have commenced a manhunt for the fleeing suspects, with ongoing operations aimed at tracking them down and preventing further criminal activities in the area.

The successful rescue operation highlights the growing effectiveness of intelligence-driven security operations and the collaboration between the military and local security outfits in tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across Benue State.

Operation WHIRL STROKE has continued to intensify offensive and rapid-response operations across its area of responsibility as part of sustained efforts to enhance security, protect lives and property, and deny criminal elements freedom of operation in Benue and neighbouring states.
