The rescue operation, conducted on June 29, 2026, led to the safe recovery of four women and two children who had reportedly been held captive by the terrorists for several months.

The rescued victims were identified as Umaima Isiaku (30), Amina Isiaku (25), Fatima Saidu (22), Huzaima Nasiru (16), Usman Surajo (1), and Dauda Isiaku (18 months).

According to preliminary findings, the victims were abducted on March 11, 2026, along the Tsafe–Bilbis Road in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State. All the victims are natives of Bilbis village.

The victims told troops that they were abandoned by their captors as sustained military offensives against terrorist hideouts forced the criminals to flee the area.

Military authorities said the rescued victims are receiving the necessary care and support while arrangements are being made to reunite them with their families.

The military noted that the successful operation highlights the continued pressure being mounted by Operation FANSAN YAMMA against terrorist and bandit groups across the North-West as troops intensify efforts to dismantle criminal networks, rescue abducted persons and restore peace to affected communities.
