Ugochinyere Accuses Wike of Sabotaging PDP

Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, representing Ideato North/South Federal Constituency of Imo State, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of working to destabilise the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ugochinyere made the claim during an interview on Channels Television’s _Politics Today_ on Friday. He alleged that Wike, a PDP member serving in President Bola Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC) cabinet, is intent on undermining the opposition party.
“The way PDP is going and the role he (Wike) is playing in staying in APC doing APC work and insisting on ensuring that the leadership of the party must remain all points to the fact that he just wants to destroy PDP,” Ugochinyere said.
The lawmaker argued that Wike is not the PDP’s main challenge but criticised the party’s leaders for failing to confront him.
“It is not like he is the problem of PDP. The people I blame are some of the governors and PDP leaders who have not been man enough to stand up to stop this kindergarten politics,” he stated.
He also accused the PDP’s national leadership of collaborating with the ruling APC and pursuing self-interest instead of safeguarding the party’s values.
“I don’t understand why you have a national chairman and secretary of a party who seem to be in bed with the ruling government and people seem to be comfortable with that and are filing cases in court to keep themselves in office,” Ugochinyere added.
The comments reflect growing tension within the PDP, particularly concerning Wike’s role in Tinubu’s administration and its implications for the party’s future.
