Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the closing ceremony held on Saturday night at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Tinubu praised the military for fostering unity and camaraderie across Africa.

In his remarks, Tinubu highlighted the event’s significance as a beacon of collaboration and resilience among African nations.

“This grand event has been more than just a showcase of athletic prowess; it is a celebration of the enduring spirit of collaboration, excellence, and the unwavering resolve of our militaries to stand together,” he stated.

Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to combating security threats and violent crimes in Nigeria. As the current Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), he pledged to champion stabilizing initiatives across the continent.

“This duty transcends borders; fostering robust collaboration among troops is critical to our shared destiny,” he noted.

The event, which marked a 22-year hiatus since the inaugural games, brought together military athletes from across the continent.

Tinubu commended the leadership of General Christopher Musa, Chief of Defence Staff, and Major General Abdullahi Maikano, President of the Organisation of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA), for their dedication in making the games a success.

“Through professionalism and discipline, you have all demonstrated that military personnel are not only guardians of security but also extraordinary sportsmen and women,” Tinubu added.

The president underscored the importance of such initiatives in enhancing the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of participants. “Supporting activities like these is essential to achieving holistic development within our armed forces,” he remarked.

As the 2nd African Military Games concluded, Tinubu called for sustained efforts to build stronger ties across nations, ensuring that the spirit of unity and collaboration endures beyond the competition.

The week-long event showcased the strength of Africa’s military athletes, reaffirming the continent’s commitment to fostering peace, resilience, and shared progress.

Also speaking the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, echoed similar sentiments, describing the games as a powerful demonstration of African military unity.

With the theme “Enhancing Military Cooperation in Africa through Sports,” the event attracted participants from 20 countries.
