US Congressman Riley M. Moore has issued a stern warning that Nigeria could face serious diplomatic consequences if the government fails to enhance protection for its Christian population.

The warning follows a deadly overnight attack in Jos North, Plateau State, where gunmen reportedly opened fire on residents during Palm Sunday. Dozens were killed and many others injured, with terrified residents fleeing their homes amid the violence.
“If they don’t take this threat seriously and mobilize to defend our brothers and sisters in Christ, the blood of these martyrs will be on their hands, and there will be significant consequences for Nigeria’s relationship with the United States,” Congressman Moore said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
In response, Nigerian authorities imposed a 48-hour curfew in parts of Jos North and deployed security forces to the affected communities to restore order and prevent further attacks.
The incident has intensified calls for stronger measures to protect vulnerable communities and address rising insecurity in Plateau State and other parts of the country.
