The Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite, has inaugurated the Central and Technical Working Groups responsible for finalising Nigeria’s National Development Plan (NDP) 2026–2030.

The inauguration took place on Monday, October 19, 2026, at Haris Hotel, Wuye, Abuja, as part of efforts to develop a strategic framework for Nigeria’s medium-term economic development.

Uzoka-Anite said the plan would serve as a critical medium-term instrument for advancing Nigeria Agenda 2050 and supporting the country’s ambition of achieving a US$1 trillion economy by 2030.

She explained that the new plan would build on lessons from the 2021–2025 development plan, with greater emphasis on realistic targets, stronger institutional coordination, sustainable financing and accountability.

The plan’s key focus areas include macroeconomic stability and industrialisation; infrastructure development and energy security; human capital development and institutional reform; and grassroots inclusion.

According to the minister, grassroots inclusion would be strengthened through data from all 8,809 wards nationwide, collected through the Renewed Hope Survey.

She charged the technical teams to produce a coherent and action-oriented framework by Thursday, October 22, 2026.

Uzoka-Anite stressed that achieving Nigeria’s national development aspirations would require disciplined planning and precise execution, expressing confidence that the process would contribute to building a more resilient, productive and inclusive economy.
