VOADI Urges Celebrities to Follow Davido’s Example, Honors Him at Orphans’ Carnival 2025
The Voice of Orphans Africa and Diaspora Initiative (VOADI) has called on Nigerian celebrities to emulate the philanthropic example of award-winning artist Davido, whose generosity has positively impacted thousands of orphans across the country.
The appeal was made during a press conference in Nasarawa State ahead of the 2025 Orphans’ Carnival Season 6, an annual event dedicated this year to honoring Davido on his birthday, November 21, 2025.
Speaking at the event, VOADI Founder and President, Tunde Okoroko, highlighted that Davido’s donations have helped orphanages provide essential amenities such as boreholes, roofing repairs, and renovations. “Davido is not just a celebrity—he uses his fame to put smiles on the faces of children he doesn’t even know,” Okoroko said.
He added, “Some homes tell us, ‘It was Davido’s fund we used to dig boreholes.’ Others say, ‘His donation helped us re-roof our building.’ His giving goes far and touches lives.”
The Orphans’ Carnival serves as a platform where orphans, less privileged children, and potential donors converge. It features talent showcases, scholarship awards, skill-training opportunities, and other forms of support for the children.

Okoroko explained that dedicating the 2025 edition to Davido is VOADI’s way of expressing gratitude on behalf of orphanages that cannot reach the musician directly. “Even if they write letters, it may never get to him. This carnival is a message: Davido, the orphans appreciate you,” he said.
The Orphans’ Carnival, which started six years ago, regularly hosts 50 to 70 orphanages from across the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Niger, Kaduna, Benue, Plateau, and other states. VOADI’s long-term goal is to expand the event to include orphanages from all states in Nigeria.
