‘We Appreciate Your Sacrifices’ – Hon. Olawanle Thanks Nigerian Military
The Minister of State for Youth Development, Hon Ayodele Olawanle, has conveyed gratitude to the Nigerian military for their sacrifices and unwavering commitment to upholding the national security and territorial integrity of Nigeria.

Hon Olawanle expressed these sentiments during his visit to the Headquarters of Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI in Maiduguri, Borno State on January 18, 2024. He commended the military, predominantly composed of young men and women, for exemplifying unity in diversity through their coordination and activities.
He acknowledged “while most Nigerians sleep peacefully, you remain on the frontline, making sacrifices for the nation’s peace,” he said, urging Nigerians to consistently acknowledge and appreciate the sacrifices and efforts of the military, as a way of boosting their combat capability and efficiency.
The Theatre Commander, Maj Gen Gold Chibuisi, expressed appreciation for the Minister’s encouraging remarks, stating that the visit was motivating for the troops. He assured that, despite prevailing security challenges, the military would persist in its efforts to ensure that Nigerians can enjoy peace and conduct their businesses in a secure environment.
Gen Chibuisi highlighted the substantial progress made in addressing security challenges in Borno State, affirming the military’s commitment to intensifying efforts against terrorists, especially through ongoing operations aimed at dismantling the remnants of these groups. He extended gratitude to the Minister for the visit and assured that the military would actively collaborate with critical stakeholders to eliminate criminals in the northeast and other regions of the country.
The Theatre Commander appreciated the federal government for its strategic guidance and the public’s support for military operations nationwide. He pledged that the military would continue to fulfill its assigned duties proficiently and effectively.
As part of the visit’s activities, the Hon Minister toured the 7 Division Medical Services and Hospital, where he expressed condolences to wounded-in-action troops undergoing treatment. He assured them of the Federal Government’s unwavering support.
Dignitaries present during the visit included the Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Borno State, Comrade S Buba, Chief of Staff Headquarters Theatre Command Brig Gen A Idris, Theatre Logistics Component Commander Brig Gen EJ Ikomi, Commander 7 Division Garrison Brig Gen TM Opurum, Principal Staff Officers from Headquarters Theatre Command, Chief of Staff to the Hon Minister, and officials from the Borno State Ministry of Youth and Sports.
