Wike, Military Officer Clash Over Alleged Land Grabbing in Abuja

There was a heated confrontation on Tuesday between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and an unidentified military officer over an alleged case of land grabbing at the Gaduwa District of Abuja.

A video of the altercation, which surfaced on social media, showed Wike visibly furious as he accused the officer of illegally taking possession of a parcel of land.

In the footage, the minister questioned the military’s claim to the property, reportedly linked to a former Chief of Naval Staff, describing the action as unacceptable.

“Because you are an officer? Nobody does that. The man took land because he was the Chief of Naval Staff?” Wike said during the exchange.

The FCT Minister, who has repeatedly vowed to reclaim all illegally acquired lands within Abuja, reiterated his administration’s commitment to due process and to upholding the Abuja Master Plan.

As of the time of filing this report, the identity of the military officer and an official response from the Defence Headquarters had yet to be confirmed.
