The governor made this commitment during his visit to the scene, expressing deep sympathy for those affected.
Mr. Mamman Mohammed, DG of Press and Media Affairs to Governor Buni, officially signed the statement, reaffirming the government’s commitment to supporting the affected individuals in their efforts to rebuild.
Governor Buni characterised the incident as a significant setback, particularly for the young entrepreneurs striving to establish their businesses. Assuring continuous support, he stated.
“Government will continue to assist you to recover your businesses, to generate more employment opportunities for our youths.”
As a concrete step towards recovery, the governor directed the allocation of shops to the victims at the newly constructed Ibrahim Gaidam modern market in Damaturu.
He also urged the State Ministry of Housing to assess the extent of damage and plan for the reconstruction of affected structures.
The inferno, which engulfed thirty-three shops belonging to 157 shop owners and their dependents at the Damaturu GSM market, prompted Governor Buni to emphasise the importance of vigilance.
He called on the public to take proactive measures to prevent fire disasters both at home and on business premises.
