The Yobe State Government is set to empower 2,500 young women and girls with vocational and digital skills under the Technology Talent Services (TTS) project, aimed at expanding employment opportunities, promoting digital inclusion and strengthening economic independence.

The initiative was highlighted during a courtesy visit by a delegation from Technology Talent Services Nigeria, led by Ambassador Janet Olisa, to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Mohammed Goje, in Damaturu.

Olisa said the visit was to assess prospective training centres, evaluate implementation readiness and strengthen collaboration with the state government to ensure the successful delivery of the programme.

The project, implemented through a partnership involving the Yobe State Government, Mastercard Foundation and Tech for Development, is designed to equip participants with relevant vocational and digital competencies to improve their participation in the evolving economy.

During the assessment, Yobe State emerged as one of the leading states among the 12 participating states in terms of preparedness for the programme, reflecting efforts to establish the necessary structures for effective implementation.

Beyond skills acquisition, participants are expected to receive support with job searches and placement opportunities to help them translate their newly acquired competencies into employment, entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods.

Receiving the delegation, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Mohammed Goje, reaffirmed Governor Mai Mala Buni’s commitment to human capital development, youth empowerment and inclusive economic growth.

The initiative is expected to expand opportunities for young women and girls in Yobe State by equipping them with practical skills to improve their employability, support entrepreneurship and participate more actively in the digital economy.
