A Nigerian clergyman, Pastor John Anosike, has stirred a controversial discussion by instructing his church members to contribute their January salary to him as their first fruit of the year, emphasizing that it is meant for him and not for the church.
In a viral video, the pastor confidently asserted his position, stating that he is unafraid of any potential backlash or criticism. He urged his followers to consider him as their spiritual father and honour him with their initial income of the year, assuring them that such an act would bring blessings.
“This month’s salary is your first fruit of the year, it is for me, not for the church. I want to challenge you, by the spirit of God, I fear nobody and I fear no criticisms,” Pastor Anosike declared in the video.
The clergyman went on to make a bold claim, promising to return the money if his members do not testify by the middle of the year after donating their January salary to him. He emphasized the significance of honouring him with the first fruit, connecting it to the potential for miraculous blessings.
“If you call me your spiritual father, this month’s salary is your first fruit of the year, It is for me, not for the church. It is for this altar, it is for this oracle, it is for this vessel, this one God has prepared,” he added.
Pastor Anosike concluded by expressing confidence in the spiritual covenant and urged his followers to adhere to the instruction, promising to show them mysteries in the scriptures throughout the year. He emphasized the importance of carrying out the directive, especially for those who consider him their father, mentor or belong to the church.
