All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholder in Bauchi State, Alhaji Salisu Ahmed Barau, has dismissed reports that former Governor Isa Yuguda is planning to defect from the party to the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).

Barau, who is also Adviser on Media and Communication to Yuguda and Ambassador of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the North-East, described the report as false and misleading.
He spoke in an interview with newsmen on Saturday in Bauchi.
“There is no truth in the report that Malam Isa Yuguda is planning to leave the APC. It is a blatant lie.
“His son is an adult and can make his own political decisions. The fact that he has moved to another party does not mean that his father is leaving the APC,” Barau said.
He said Yuguda remained committed to the APC, adding that although there might be disagreements and concerns within the party, such issues were normal in politics and could be resolved through dialogue and consultation.
According to him, Yuguda’s appointment as Ambassador of the Renewed Hope Agenda in the North-East reflected the respect President Tinubu had for the former governor.
Barau said Yuguda had contributed significantly to Bauchi’s development during his tenure as governor through infrastructure, legacy projects, employment, empowerment and initiatives aimed at boosting business activities.
He said preparations were underway for the launch of the Renewed Hope Agenda across the six geopolitical zones, adding that activities had commenced in the North-East.
He therefore urged members of the public to disregard reports suggesting that Yuguda was planning to leave the APC.
The APC stakeholder also said the party’s reconciliation committee had continued consultations aimed at resolving internal differences.
He urged party members to put aside their differences, respect their leaders and work collectively to strengthen the APC in the North-East.
Barau said the party’s focus should be on reconciliation, unity and delivering development to the people, rather than internal divisions.
