Yusufari Emirate Council Bestows Traditional Titles on Lt-Gen TY Buratai (Rtd) CFR, Engineer Hassan Muhammad, and Others

In a ceremony held at the palace of His Royal Highness, Alhaji Mohammed bin Mohammed Zakaria, the Emir of Yusufari, the Yusufari Emirate Council in Yobe State conferred prestigious traditional titles on distinguished individuals, recognising their outstanding contributions to society.

Among the honourees, Lieutenant General TY Buratai (rtd) CFR received the esteemed title of “Garkuwan Yusufari” (The Shield of Yusufari), acknowledging his remarkable service and commitment to the welfare of the community. Another recipient, Engineer Hassan Muhammad, Sarkin Yakin Garkuwan Keffi, and Matawaalen Arewa, was honoured with the title of “Dan Madamin Yusufari,” in recognition of his significant role in uplifting the emirate.
The event, which took place on Sunday, 31st December 2023, drew an impressive gathering of dignitaries from across the nation, highlighting the significance of the occasion. Notable attendees included the President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan GCON PhD, and Sardaunan Bade, alongside government officials, serving and retired senior military officers, and the esteemed sons and daughters of the Yusufari emirate and neighboring emirates.
The conferment of these traditional titles serves as a powerful testament to the importance of active community contribution.
