Boko Haram: Abducted UNHCR staff cries for help.

Fear has enveloped many as Abubakar Garba Idris Alooma, an abducted UNHCR staff, yesterday, 18th March 2021, cried for help to be freed from Boko Haram insurgents captivity.

Alooma made the appeal in a short video which was obtained by this medium.

Alooma is a Senior Protection Assistant with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and was abducted along Maiduguri-Damaturu highway when the insurgents attacked some convoy of commuters near Matari village between Minok to Jakana road.

He appealed to the UNHCR and the government to come to his aid and free him. In the short footage where he spoke in Hausa, he said he was abducted by Khilafa’s soldiers which is probably the ISWAP faction of the Boko Haram insurgents.
