Cross River YPP’s deputy guber candidate abducted
Prince Agbor Onyi, a deputy governorship candidate for the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Cross River State, has been abducted.
Onyi and three other people were abducted on Thursday night in the Biase LGA, which is well known for being a refuge for kidnappers.
According to family-friendly sources, the kidnappers have already requested a sizable ransom.

Prof. Gertrude Njar, the commissioner for women’s affairs, was freed early last week after spending more than a month in the kidnappers’ lair, reportedly after a sizable ransom was paid.
The YPP claimed in a statement released by the state secretary, Comrade Fredrick Omari, that the tragedy has left Onyi’s family members and the party inconsolable, battered, and distraught.
“We have received with rude shock the depressing news of the kidnap of our Deputy Governorship candidate, Prince Agbor Onyi.
“The timing of this criminal act is very devastating to the party and is a very serious concern to us all. We, therefore, call on the Nigerian Police and all security agencies to swing into action with unaccustomed alacrity.
“We demand that our Deputy Governorship candidate be released from the kidnappers’ den immediately to enable him to proceed to his community to perform his civic duty tomorrow.”
