Gombe Gov congratulates new Ag. Chief Judge, urges dispensation of justice without discrimination

 

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has congratulated the new Ag. Chief Judge of the State and urged him to dispense justice to all manner of people in the State, without discrimination, fear or favour.

Gov. Yahaya expressed this in his address on the occasion of the swearing-in ceremony of the new Ag. Chief Judge of Gombe State, Hon. Justice Joseph A. Awak, on Sunday at the new Banquet Hall, Government House, Gombe.

The Governor commended the former Ag. Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Mu’azu Abdulkadir Pindiga for his meritorious and selfless service to the state and most importantly in his last capacity as Acting Chief Judge of Gombe State from 2019 – January, 2022.

He said the people of Gombe are grateful for all his contributions in the administration of justice in the state and humanity in general, and prayed for his good living in health and prosperity while in retirement.

Gov. Yahaya noted that the retirement of the former Ag. Chief Judge ushered in the appointment of the most Senior Judge in ranks at the High Court of Justice a new Ag Chief Judge in person of Hon. Justice Joseph A. Awak.

He described Justice Awak as a respectable Judge deserving of the appointment, adding that his dedication, experience, principles and forth-rightness make him a worthy occupant of the exalted seat.

He expressed confidence in the ability and qualities of the new Ag. Chief Judge to take the Gombe State Judiciary to “the next level.”

“My Lord, the Acting Chief Judge, with your oath taking, constitutionally it has made you head of the Judiciary, the third arm of Government in the State. As the administrative head, we urge you to dispense justice to all manner of people in the State, without discrimination, fear or favour. On our part, this administration will continue to support the Judiciary and Legislature in discharging their statutory responsibilities effectively for the overall benefit of the good people of Gombe State,” Gov. Yahaya said.

The Governor reiterated that it is the desire of his administration to have a harmonious working relationship with both the Judiciary and the Legislature, adding that the three arms of Government have to partner in the development of the State.

Gov. Yahaya further assured the entire members of the Judiciary that his administration would continue to make available all necessary facilities and funding that will enhance efficiency and the speedy administration of justice in this State.
