Gov Sule lays foundation for Tukur Buratai Research Centre, commends founder


The Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, on Saturday, laid the foundation for the multi-million Naira Tukur Buratai Research Centre (TBRC) established by the Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Republic of Benin and former Chief of Army Staff, Amb. Lt-Gen Tukur Yusufu Buratai (Rtd) to address the quest for modern and sustainable security research centres in the country.

Gov. Sule, who was the Special Guest of Hounour at the foundation laying ceremony and appeal fund raising for the Centre at Tukur & Tukur Farms LTD, Gora Nasarawa State, commended Ambassador Buratai’s role in strengthening the security architecture of the country both as a former Chief of Army Staff and as an Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Governor noted that the Centre, in collaboration with Nasarawa State University Keffi (NSUK) would further chart a new course for resolving security issues that confront the country at large.

Buratai had earlier stated that the collaboration between TBRC and NSUK was a strategic arrangement to promote research and development for good governance, leadership capacity building, promotion of innovation and the strengthening of Nigeria’s security architecture.

According to him, the ultimate goal of the Centre is to promote peace and empower communities for peace building and conflict resolution through workshops, seminars and conferences.

Gov. Sule, after performing the groundbreaking of the Centre, donated N50million to support the project.

The event also had in attendance the first Executive Governor of Nasarawa state and Senator representing Nasarawa West, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu as Chairman of the Occasion; Chairman, Senate Committee on Army, Sen. Ali Ndume as Co-Chairman of the Occasion, Emir of Keffi, HRH Dr. Shehu Chindo Yamusa III as the Royal Father of the Day; and the Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed as the Chief Host.

Other dignitaries at the event were the representatives of the Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Air Staff, Chairman of BUA Group, and other royal and titleholders within and outside the state
