Legend of Buratai: Iheanacho applauds author for children friendly technique
Nigerian authors and writers have been charged to embrace young readers’ series in their works of art to show the relevance of their works.
An award-winning author, Dr Lizi Ben-Iheanacho made this statement while reviewing the Animated Narration of the book, “The Legend of Buratai” at the public presentation of the book on Tuesday in Abuja.
According to her, young adults are easily connected to the art that talks history through animation like the animated version of “The Legend of Buratai.”
She said: “The age-and cluster-appropriate books must be available in Nigeria. Although we all write and are unconsciously usually targeted at adult readers, we are yet to cultivate young adult readers’ technical requirements and thematic needs.
“That’s the nitch that I see “The Legend of Buratai” meeting in terms of how those skills are deployed and in terms of narrative focus, which is heavy on young adults’ needs.

“The animated book challenges us on digital intervention in literary creativity in the country and I would urge us for the availability of youth-friendly work in a see-and-watch not exceeding one hour.”
Iheanacho said this would encourage reading culture, dwindling among children and young adults, saying audiobook is the new trend of the 21st century.
When reviewing the book, the award-winning author said the narrative technique used was the most appropriate for readability and comprehension for young adults and children.
She said the book, which is a version for young adults, focused on courage, bravery, environmental security consciousness, and patriotism, which young adults can easily connect to.
“The narrative language is appropriate to the target audience. The actions are facts faced with fascinating use of flashbacks, which connect with history and immediate reality.”
She charged Nigerians to acquaint themselves with the book and make it available for readers in libraries to learn a life of integrity, patriotism and courage as exhibited by the former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt-Gen Tukur Buratai (rtd).
The event featured reading by school children, animation show of the book, a book presentation and poetry performances.
