Nigeria, UAE to deepen defence cooperation
Nigeria’s and the United Arab Emirates’ National Defense Colleges (NDC) have agreed to boost their respective national power.
On Monday, Rear Adm. Murtala Bashir, Commandant of the NDC Nigeria, and Brig.-Gen. Mahdi Alahbabi, Head of Delegation, NDC UAE, met.
At his office in Abuja, Rear Adm. Bashir welcomed Alahbabi and the delegation’s other members.
Alahbabi explained that the visit was to share knowledge and study how Nigeria conducts its activities to meet its mission.
The officer disclosed the UAE believed that the armed forces were the instrument for measuring its national power.
Gen. Alahbabi said the majority of members of his country’s military were civilians in other sectors of government and the private sector.

Speaking, Bashir said the college develops future strategic leaders within the military, security agencies, strategic government ministries, and agencies.
The NDC chief said the college had participants from allied countries, adding that the current course had 21 participants from 20 nations.
Gen. Bashir officer observed security was becoming more complex, volatile, and uncertain, and therefore required partnership among allies.
