NLC Holds Delegates’ Conference
The Nigeria Labour Congress NLC’s 13th quadrennial Delegates Conference has begun in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
The Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, along with other dignitaries are present for the two-day event that will usher in new leadership for the umbrella organization.
Ayuba Wabba, the outgoing president of the NLC, welcomed the guests and urged the Nigerian government to immediately address what he described as the ongoing hardship that the new naira design policy had caused for Nigerians.

He said that the majority of Nigerians are unable to buy or sell due to a lack of access to new notes or even old ones, attributing the development to the policy’s ineffective implementation.
“What we are witnessing in Nigeria presently is that you have your money in the bank, yet you cannot access it because your bank where you kept your own money cannot give it to you.
“In other climes, when there a new currency design policy, the old note remains a legal tender side by side the new notes until the last old note enters the bank, but our case is different….” Wabba said.
He said that Nigeria’s leadership must recognize and accept that the nation’s economy was rural in nature and must be taken into consideration while considering any financial policy.
