NNPP frowns at vote buying, man arrested with 29 PVCs in Kano

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has put in place mechanisms to prevent vote buying in Kano ahead of the 2023 election.

The party slammed reports of politicians and their supporters obtaining and stockpiling Permanent Voter’s Cards, or PVCs, in various communities.

On Wednesday, police arrested an alleged All Progressives Congress, APC, member in Dawaki town, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, with 29 PVCs.

According to Public Relations Officer SP Abdullahi Haruna, the suspect is 45-year-old Tasiu Abdullahi.

Sanusi Bature, the spokesperson for the NNPP Campaign, said in a statement on Thursday that the party would investigate the case.

The State Legal Adviser, Barr. Bashir Yusuf, has been directed to pursue the matter and ensure Abdullahi is arraigned to face the law.

“We recently secured judgment on a similar case against the APC Chairman of Yautar Arewa in Gabasawa Local Government Area”, Bature noted.

The NNPP urged Nigerians to speak out and report incidences of vote buying and PVC hoarding “in the spirit of protecting democratic principles”.
