NULGE rejects biometric attendance register in Abia

Urges members not to comply

The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Abia State, has rejected the biometric attendance register in the state.

The state government had introduced the signing of a biometric register to check attendance of workers in the 17 Local Government Areas (LGA) of the state.

However, NULGE asked its members not to comply and rather to boycott the signing of the same.

According to the President of NULGE in the State, Ikechi Nwaigwe, the Union’s decision was due to the fact that its members in the 17 LGA.

He stated that members of the union had been subjected to hardship without any salary or incentive.

The President explained in a statement that all officers of NULGE have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the union’s directive or face sanction.

“In view of the sufferings of our members across the LGAs in the state and other pressing issues affecting the LG workers in the state, NULGE has taken the decision.

You are hereby directed to boycott the biometric clocking attendance effective from 16/2/2021 until further notice.

This decision is in the best interest of our members and the Union, NULGE. The Union appreciates your effort and support to it against all odds,” Nwaigwe stated.
