The President of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs. Oghogho Gwabin Musa, has expressed heartfelt appreciation to Nigerian troops serving on the frontlines across the country, commending their courage, resilience, and unwavering dedication to national security.
Speaking during the October edition of DEPOWA’s monthly Fitness and Wellness Aerobic Dance Session in Abuja, Mrs. Musa also encouraged members of the association to maintain healthy lifestyles through regular exercise, balanced diets, and positive living habits.
She reaffirmed DEPOWA’s continuous support for the Armed Forces and other security agencies, noting that the association’s ongoing one-year campaign is dedicated to appreciating and uplifting troops for their selfless service.
“From all of us in DEPOWA and the other officers’ wives associations — NAOWA, NAFOWA, NOWA, POWA, and COASOWA — we send our thank-you message to our gallant troops. We see you, we salute you, and we say thank you for all the sacrifices,” Mrs. Musa said.
She praised the bravery of personnel who risk their lives daily to safeguard the nation, acknowledging the immense toll their duty takes on them and their families.
“Thank you for staying awake to keep us safe and for bringing comfort to our homes. We are truly grateful,” she added.
Mrs. Musa further assured troops that their families remain steadfast and prayerful, keeping the home front strong while awaiting their safe return.
“We are with you. All your wives are here, maintaining the home front. By God’s grace, you will return to us safe and sound,” she said.
The DEPOWA President concluded her remarks by invoking divine protection over all security personnel and reaffirming the association’s commitment to supporting military families and promoting unity within the armed forces community.
Reflecting on the fitness initiative, Mrs. Musa expressed delight at the visible transformation among members since the last exercise in June, noting improvements in health and physical fitness levels.
“Every dance you dance and every step you take is an investment in your life and future. A healthy body is a more productive body,” she emphasized.
She urged participants to remain consistent beyond the organized sessions by engaging in personal fitness activities such as walking, hiking, swimming, or cycling.
Mrs. Musa also underscored the importance of proper nutrition, stressing that true wellness comes from both exercise and healthy eating habits.
“Seventy percent of our wellbeing depends on what we eat. Let’s eat more vegetables, fruits, and proteins, and reduce carbohydrates. Drink plenty of water,” she advised.
Commending the instructors for their dedication and the members for their commitment, Mrs. Musa noted that many participants had recorded significant health improvements, including lower blood pressure and better sleep quality. She encouraged them to share their testimonies to inspire others to join the wellness movement.
