In a press statement jointly issued by its President, Danjuma Nanpon Sheni, and Secretary-General, Danjuma Dickson Auta, the group said the attack occurred on the evening of March 29, 2026, leaving several others with varying degrees of injuries currently receiving treatment in medical facilities across Jos.
The group warned that the persistent attacks on Plateau communities by criminal militias could no longer be tolerated, stressing that the continued loss of innocent lives was unacceptable.
Describing the incident as an unprovoked attack on harmless citizens, PIDAN called on the Federal Government, Plateau State Government, and security agencies to take immediate and decisive steps to apprehend those responsible and bring them to justice.
It cautioned that the patience of the people was being severely tested, noting that failure to act swiftly could further erode public confidence and heighten tensions in affected communities.
The organisation urged security agencies to intensify efforts to restore order and reassure residents of their safety, while also calling for proactive measures to prevent a recurrence of such attacks.
The group also commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang for his prompt visit to the affected community, where he sympathised with victims and grieving families.
The attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents in parts of Plateau State, raising renewed concerns over the security situation in the region and prompting calls for more decisive and sustained interventions by authorities.
PIDAN extended its condolences to the bereaved families and the people of Angwan Rukuba, urging unity and resilience in the face of the tragedy, even as it stressed the urgent need for concrete actions to halt the cycle of violence in the state
