Speaking during the closing session of the second National Economic Council (NEC) Conference at the State House Conference Hall, Abuja, the President urged governors, key government officials, and stakeholders to recommit to the effective delivery of the agenda, which aims to promote inclusive growth and sustainable national development.
Represented by the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, President Tinubu emphasized that reform is an ongoing process requiring courage, patience, and consistency. He stressed that decisions made at the conference must translate into tangible improvements in job creation, business support, infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and expanded opportunities for Nigerians.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda is not a slogan but a national commitment. We must move beyond dialogue to delivery,” he said, noting that his administration would continue to support sub-national governments, deepen institutional reforms, and ensure that policy dividends reach every community.
President Tinubu commended Vice President Kashim Shettima, chairman of NEC, for his leadership in guiding deliberations and expressed gratitude to governors, ministers, development partners, and private-sector stakeholders for their contributions.
The conference featured seven panel sessions and nine lead papers covering themes such as the economy, interstate collaboration, fiscal governance, human capital development, security, domestic production, and frameworks for economic growth.
Among the key policy recommendations, NEC urged:
- Alignment with the national security framework under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
- Adoption of non-kinetic approaches to tackle unemployment and poverty.
- Strengthened cooperative federalism to translate macroeconomic reforms into real citizen impact.
- Prioritization of bankable projects across agriculture, manufacturing, energy, transport, logistics, and digital infrastructure.
- Development of technology and artificial intelligence skills to enhance global competitiveness.
- Acceleration of the harmonised tax law across all states to reduce multiple taxation and support ongoing reforms.
President Tinubu concluded that collaboration, accountability, and disciplined execution remain central to building a resilient economy, inclusive society, and stronger federation.
The NEC Conference reinforced the federal government’s commitment to translating reforms into measurable socio-economic benefits and advancing Nigeria towards a one-trillion-dollar economy.
