The Chief Executive Officer of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Khalil Halilu, has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to advancing local technology development through strategic international partnerships.

Halilu made this known on the sidelines of the recent presidential state visit to the United Kingdom, where he engaged with leading global technology partners.
According to him, the engagements are part of deliberate efforts to reposition Nigeria from a consumer of technology to a producer and innovator.
He stressed that the focus goes beyond collaboration, noting that the goal is to domesticate proven technologies and adapt them to meet local needs.
“For me, this is not just about collaboration, it is about bringing proven technologies home, localising them, and building them here in Nigeria,” he said.
The NASENI boss added that the initiative aligns with the broader vision of strengthening Nigeria’s industrial capacity, boosting innovation, and creating sustainable economic opportunities through homegrown technological solutions.
