Over 40 Ambassador-Designates Begin Induction in Abuja Ahead of Foreign Posting

More than 40 ambassador-designates have commenced an intensive induction programme in Abuja ahead of their deployment to diplomatic missions across the world.

The programme, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is designed to prepare the envoys for their roles in advancing Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives and strengthening international relations.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu charged the ambassador-designates to serve as the “face of Nigeria abroad,” urging them to prioritise economic diplomacy, attract foreign investment, and safeguard the interests of Nigerians in their respective host countries.

He emphasised the importance of professionalism and strategic engagement, noting that the diplomats would play a critical role in projecting Nigeria’s image and fostering global partnerships.

The induction programme is expected to equip the envoys with essential tools in areas such as trade promotion, security cooperation, and consular services, in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Officials said the training would also expose participants to emerging global trends and best practices in diplomacy, ensuring they are well-prepared to navigate complex international environments.

The induction exercise is scheduled to conclude on Friday.
