NAHCON: Hajj Savings Scheme take-off in Adamawa

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has launched the Hajj Savings Scheme in Adamawa. The scheme was introduced to ease the payment of Hajj fare for intending hajjis.

According to the NAHCON Chairman, Alhaji Zikirullahi Kunle Hassan, the scheme was designed to make the pilgrimage easier and more affordable for intending pilgrims.

The who was represented by the Director Licensing of the commission, Alhaji Zakariyau Umar at the lunch in Yola, explained that the Hajj Savings Scheme which is was a collaboration between the NAHCON and Jaiz Bank would avail Muslims the opportunity of saving gradually over a period of time to facilitate their performance of hajj exercise.

According to the National Coordinator of the scheme, Dr Tanko Aliyu, benefits of the Hajj Saving Scheme is not limited to performance of hajj as it include profit sharing base on the savings made as well as job creation, poverty alleviation and empowerment.

On his part the governor of Adamawa state, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri noted that the scheme will support low income Muslim earners to perform the pilgrimage.

Represented by the Secretary to State Government, Mallam Bashir Ahmad, the Governor charged officials handling the scheme to educate Muslims on the spiritual and financial benefits of the scheme.

The governor urged them to be just and honest in the discharge of the duties.

While calling on Muslims to key into the scheme, the Executive Secretary (ES) of the Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission, Alhaji Salihu Abubakar, stated that the scheme would allow civil servants, petty traders and other low income earners to perform hajj with ease through their savings.

The ES assured that arrangements have been made to ensure that funds saved under the scheme are safe with Jaiz Bank.

In a remark, the Lamido Adamawa, Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustafa who was represented by the Galadiman Adamawa, thanked the NAHCON for introducing the scheme and charged Muslims to take the opportunity and utilize it.
