Governor Abdulrazaq described the attacks as unfortunate and heartbreaking, noting that the violent incidents had claimed several lives, destroyed livelihoods, and displaced many residents.
He conveyed the sympathy of the Kwara State Government and the Nigeria Governors Forum to the government and people of Niger State, assuring that collaborative efforts with relevant authorities would continue to address security challenges confronting affected states and the nation at large.
Responding, Governor Bago—popularly known as the “Farmer Governor”—expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a strong demonstration of unity and solidarity. He noted that both Kwara and Niger States share a border around the Borgu Emirate and face similar security concerns, making cooperation between the two states essential.
The visit underscored growing calls for inter-state collaboration and strengthened security measures to curb violence and restore stability in border communities.
The statement was issued by Bologi Ibrahim, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State, on February 16, 2026.
