The agreement focuses on the development of sugar refineries, edible oil production facilities, and other large-scale agro-industrial investments within the port’s industrial zone. The collaboration is expected to strengthen food security, enhance value-chain integration, and expand trade links between Africa and the Middle East.
Speaking on the development, Rabiu described the MOU as a significant step toward deepening international partnerships and driving sustainable industrial growth. He noted that the projects would leverage Khalifa Port’s strategic location and world-class infrastructure to facilitate efficient production and export operations.
The partnership underscores growing economic cooperation between Nigerian business interests and the United Arab Emirates, positioning Abu Dhabi as a hub for agro-processing and commodity trade.
Industry analysts say the planned investments could generate employment opportunities, stimulate supply chains, and contribute to broader regional food production capacity once operational.
