AFCSC Jaji Graduates 611 Officers as Tinubu Reaffirms Commitment to Professional Military Education

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, on 19 December 2025 joined the Chief of Defence Staff and other Service Chiefs at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, Kaduna State, for the graduation ceremony of Senior Course 47 and Junior Course 100, reaffirming the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s commitment to professional military education and regional security cooperation.

The ceremony was graced by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, CON, as Special Guest of Honour.

A total of 611 officers successfully completed the courses, comprising 394 officers from Senior Course 47 and 217 officers from Junior Course 100. The graduands were drawn from the Nigerian Army, Navy and Air Force, alongside international officers from 17 allied African countries, including Benin Republic, Burkina Faso, Botswana, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Eswatini, Ghana, The Gambia, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Togo and Zimbabwe.

The strong international participation once again underscored AFCSC’s status as a regional centre of excellence for operational-level military education, promoting interoperability, shared doctrine and collective approaches to addressing Africa’s evolving security challenges.

In recognition of exceptional academic and leadership performance, Squadron Leader N. Lord-Mallam received the Honourable Minister of Defence Award, while Squadron Leader M. I. Abdullahi emerged as the winner of both the Chief of the Air Staff Award and the African Conference of Commandants’ Award on Senior Course 47. On Junior Course 100, Flight Lieutenant M. I. Kabir won the Chief of Defence Staff Award and the Chief of the Air Staff Award.

Following the graduation, Air Marshal Aneke held a Durbar with Nigerian Air Force graduands from both courses, during which he emphasized professionalism, leadership responsibility and the high expectations placed on officers as they progress in their careers. He also interacted with international students, reiterating Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening defence capacity and cooperation across the African continent.

The ceremony highlighted the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s sustained investment in leadership development as a critical pillar for national defence, regional stability and effective joint operations.
