Air Force Girls’ Comprehensive School Abuja Graduates 114 Students, Sets New Academic Records
The Air Force Girls’ Comprehensive School (AFGCS), Abuja, has celebrated a landmark academic achievement as 114 students graduated during the school’s 7th Graduation Ceremony, with the Class of 2026 recording its best academic performance since the institution was established.
The graduating class set several unprecedented records, including a 100 per cent promotion rate from Senior Secondary School Two (SS2) to Senior Secondary School Three (SS3). More than 90 per cent of the graduating students also scored 200 and above in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), while the school recorded its highest-ever number of candidates who scored above 300. The highest individual score was an outstanding 334.
Addressing the ceremony, the Commandant of AFGCS, Wing Commander R.A. Ajayi, congratulated the graduating students for their exceptional academic achievements and exemplary conduct, describing their success as the result of discipline, dedication, consistency and teamwork.
While celebrating the impressive UTME performance, she stressed that the school’s greatest accomplishment was not only academic excellence but also the strong character, leadership qualities and values instilled in its students. She expressed confidence that the graduating class would replicate its outstanding performance in the forthcoming West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and National Examinations Council (NECO) examinations.
Representing the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal S.K. Aneke, as Special Guest of Honour, the Chief of Administration, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Marshal A.A. Martins, congratulated the graduands, their parents and members of staff for the remarkable achievement.
He commended the school’s steady transformation in academics, discipline, infrastructure and extracurricular activities, noting that the Nigerian Air Force remains committed to improving educational standards in line with the Chief of the Air Staff’s command philosophy, which prioritises personnel welfare and human capital development for enhanced operational effectiveness.
According to him, sustained investments in educational infrastructure, modern learning facilities and improved school security demonstrate the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to producing disciplined, innovative and responsible future leaders.
Air Vice Marshal Martins urged the graduating students to remain steadfast in the values of integrity, discipline and excellence as they progress to higher institutions of learning. He also cautioned them against social vices, including cybercrime, cultism, drug abuse and examination malpractice, encouraging them instead to embrace innovation and become worthy ambassadors of the school, the Nigerian Air Force and Nigeria.
The ceremony featured the presentation of awards to outstanding students in recognition of academic excellence, leadership and good conduct. Teachers, parents and other stakeholders were also honoured for their invaluable contributions to the growth and success of the institution.
The graduation ceremony further reinforced the reputation of Air Force Girls’ Comprehensive School, Abuja, as one of the Nigerian Air Force’s flagship educational institutions, renowned for academic excellence, leadership development and the grooming of future female leaders.
