American Qur’an Reciter Riyad Alqasim Represents USA at King Abdulaziz International Qur’an Competition

Riyad Alqasim Abdullahi is representing the United States at the 46th King Abdulaziz International Qur’an Competition, currently taking place in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

The 2026 edition marks a significant milestone for the prestigious competition, with a women’s category introduced for the first time, providing female participants with an opportunity to compete on the international stage.

A total of 334 participants from 133 countries are taking part in this year’s competition, which runs from August 6 to 19, 2026.

Participants are competing in various disciplines centred on the Qur’an, including memorisation, recitation and interpretation, showcasing their knowledge, dedication and mastery of Qur’anic studies.

Riyad expressed her happiness and pride at representing the United States, describing the opportunity to participate in the international gathering in Makkah as a memorable achievement.

Her participation adds to the growing international representation of women in Qur’anic competitions and highlights the significance of the newly introduced women’s category.

From the United States to the holy city of Makkah, Riyad Alqasim Abdullahi is proudly carrying her country’s representation at one of the world’s prominent international Qur’an competitions.
