The Ashlee Momoh Foundation (AMF) has called on the Federal Government to intensify efforts to rescue school pupils and toddlers abducted from Lassa and Mussa communities in Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, as the children approach 150 days in captivity.

The foundation also announced plans to hold a 21-day peaceful rally at Unity Fountain, Maitama, Abuja, beginning Monday, October 26, 2026, to draw national and international attention to the plight of the abducted children and demand their immediate and unconditional release.

The Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, Princess Ashlee Omonegho Momoh, urged the Federal Government to strengthen security operations and deploy all necessary resources to secure the safe return of the children to their families.

She expressed sympathy with the affected parents and relatives, who have endured prolonged emotional and psychological distress since the abduction of their children.

“Our thoughts and prayers remain with the parents and loved ones who have been subjected to severe emotional and psychological trauma all this while, knowing their children were forcefully taken away from them,” she said.

Momoh, however, stressed that prayers must be accompanied by decisive action, expressing confidence in the capacity of the Nigerian military to rescue the victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.

“Our gallant military are fully capable of neutralising the abductors and rescuing our children. We have seen them show this exact capacity during the swift resolution of the Oyo school abduction incident, and we know they can replicate that success in Borno State,” she added.

She described the prolonged captivity of the children, some of whom are reportedly as young as two years old, as an unacceptable violation of their fundamental human rights, stressing that every child deserves freedom, safety and access to a normal childhood.

According to her, the planned rally is aimed at sustaining public pressure on the authorities and ensuring that the children’s plight remains a national priority until they are rescued.

The foundation called on well-meaning Nigerians, civil society organisations and residents of Askira-Uba and neighbouring communities living in Abuja to participate in the peaceful rally.

“As a non-governmental organisation dedicated to advocacy, humanitarian intervention, and protecting the rights, education, and welfare of vulnerable children and communities across Nigeria, we cannot sit idly by while the future of our nation is held captive,” Momoh said.

She urged Nigerians to unite in demanding urgent government action, emphasising that the protection of lives and the security of citizens remain fundamental responsibilities of the state.

The foundation reiterated its commitment to advocating for the rights and welfare of vulnerable children and communities, insisting that sustained public attention and decisive intervention are essential to securing the freedom of the abducted children.
