This was disclosed in a press release by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, and made available to journalists in Abuja on Wednesday.

General Musa, who was warmly received by Cameroonian officials, lauded the host nation for its hospitality and reiterated Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to deepening regional cooperation.

He emphasized the importance of working hand-in-hand with Cameroon and other neighbouring countries to tackle shared security challenges and promote socio-economic development across the region.

Themed “Army and Nation United for a Cameroon Turned Towards Peace and Prosperity,” the 53rd Unity Day celebration showcased a spirit of national pride and forward-looking unity.

The event drew the presence of Cameroon’s President, His Excellency Paul Biya, alongside senior government functionaries, diplomats, and thousands of patriotic citizens.

Key highlights of the celebration included military parades, exhibitions of defence hardware, solidarity walks, and cultural showcases, all reflecting Cameroon’s strength and commitment to national progress.

A standout moment of the festivities was the impressive performance by the Nigerian Armed Forces, the only foreign military contingent to grace the occasion.

Their faultless drills, colorful musical displays, and exceptional regimental coordination earned them a thunderous ovation from the crowd and widespread acclaim.

Their participation underscored the enduring defence ties and growing camaraderie between Nigeria and Cameroon, further cementing a shared vision for regional peace and prosperity.

The presence of General Musa at the event not only signaled Nigeria’s solidarity with Cameroon but also reaffirmed a broader regional resolve to strengthen unity in the face of evolving security threats in Central and West Africa.
