Christ Apostolic Church Nigeria and Overseas: The Truth of the 1985 Certificate, the Lies of the GEC, and the Prophetic Mandate of the Supreme Council

Introduction: A Crisis Rooted in Disobedience

The crisis that has plagued the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Nigeria and Overseas for more than three decades is not a mere administrative misunderstanding. It is the fruit of disobedience. In 1983, after the death of Pastor E.T. Latunde, God directed through prophetic voices that Pastor Olutimehin should be appointed President. Instead, political manoeuvres prevailed, and Pastor Orogun was appointed. The prophecy was clear: if the wrong man were appointed, God would “visit the Church for many years.” That visitation has manifested in division, litigation, and deception since 1990.

The roots of this crisis are spiritual, not merely organisational. When divine order is ignored, chaos follows. “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.” (1 Samuel 15:23). CAC’s crisis is the direct result of rebellion against divine instruction, and until the Church returns to obedience, unity will remain elusive.

The Lies of the GEC Faction

One of the most persistent falsehoods propagated by the General Executive Council (GEC) faction is the claim that Pastor Orogun, then President and Trustee of CAC, suspended Pastor Nelson Udofia, the General Secretary since 1969 and Trustee on the authentic 1985 Certificate. This narrative is a fabrication designed to undermine the legitimacy of the authentic certificate and justify the fraudulent certificates the GEC later procured.

The truth is clear: Pastor Udofia was never lawfully suspended as trustee, nor was he stripped of his custodianship of the certificate. He remained the lawful custodian of the 1985 Certificate of Incorporation with Number 147. When the GEC faction failed to seize it, they resorted to false affidavits, fraudulent applications, and military collusion to procure counterfeit certificates in 1991, 1995, and most recently in 2021. Each of these certificates is illegitimate, born of deception, and stands condemned as monuments of rebellion. “Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.” (Proverbs 20:17).

The Fraudulent Certificates of the GEC

The GEC’s history of fraudulent certificates is well documented:

  • In 1991, they filed a false affidavit claiming the authentic certificate was missing. The Corporate Affairs Commission issued them a fraudulent certificate, which was later revoked when the original was produced.
  • In 1995, collusion within the Commission, aided by military influence, led to another fraudulent certificate being issued to the GEC. Despite protests, the Commission refused to revoke it.
  • In 2021, the GEC once again procured a fraudulent certificate, appointing new trustees in defiance of divine order.

These actions reveal a consistent pattern: the GEC has always sought legitimacy through deception rather than truth. Their authority is built not on Christ but on fraud. Their certificates are monuments of rebellion, not instruments of stewardship.

Why the Supreme Council Refused to Appoint New Trustees

The Supreme Council, the authentic leadership of CAC, has consistently refused to appoint new trustees on the 1985 certificate. This refusal is not weakness or negligence but obedience to divine instruction. There are two main reasons:

  1. Prophetic Directive in Time of Crisis

The Lord directed our fathers in the Supreme Council that trustees should not be appointed during the time of crisis. The certificate belongs to the United Christ Apostolic Church, and at the anointed time, when God restores His Church, the united CAC will appoint trustees afresh. This is a prophetic safeguard to prevent further division and to preserve the certificate as a covenantal landmark.

  1. Faithful Obedience of Successive Leaders

From Pastor Adegoroye to Pastor Udofia, Pastor Ogunlade, and Pastor Lagunju, every leader of CAC kept to this divine directive until their passing. The current leadership of CAC under the Supreme Council continues in this obedience. They are not position seekers, but custodians of divine order. They believe the Word of God: that after His visitation of the Church—a visitation provoked by the disobedience of appointing Pastor Orogun instead of Pastor Olutimehin—CAC will be united, and thereafter the certificate will be renewed with fresh trustees for the United CAC.

This is not the position of the GEC. The GEC has always appointed new trustees on fraudulent certificates—1991, 1995, and 2021—in defiance of divine order. Their actions are rebellion masquerading as administration.

Theological Mandate: Truth Before Unity

It is true that salvation does not come through Certificate No. 147 but through the blood of Jesus Christ. Yet God is a God of order. “Let all things be done decently and in order.” (1 Corinthians 14:40). The certificate is not Christ, but it is stewardship. It is not redemption, but it is responsibility. It is not the Cross, but it is the covenantal landmark of CAC’s identity.

Reconciliation cannot be built on falsehood. Unity cannot be built on fraud. Healing cannot be built on rebellion. The certificate is not exalted above Christ, but it is the instrument God has preserved to safeguard the unity and legitimacy of CAC. To dismiss it as irrelevant is to despise the very order God has used to preserve His Church through decades of crisis.

The Prophetic Mandate of the Supreme Council

The Supreme Council’s obedience is not weakness but strength. It is not delay but divine timing. It is not indecision but prophetic faith. At the appointed time, when God restores His Church, the united CAC will appoint trustees afresh. Until then, the authentic 1985 Certificate remains the covenantal foundation.

The GEC’s fraudulent certificates are monuments of rebellion. The Supreme Council’s obedience is a testimony of faith. The future of CAC will not be built on deception but on truth. It will not be built on ambition but on obedience. It will not be built on fraud but on faith.

Conclusion: Truth, Repentance, and Revival

The crisis of CAC is not merely administrative; it is spiritual. It began with disobedience, and it will end with repentance. The certificate is not salvation, but it is stewardship. The blood of Jesus saves, but the Spirit of Truth sanctifies the structures of His Church.

The call today is clear: CAC must return to the truth, repent of rebellion, and reconcile on the authentic foundation that God has preserved. Only then will revival break forth. Only then will unity be restored. Only then will CAC fulfill her divine mandate as the vessel of End‑Time Revival.

“The stone which the builders refused has become the head stone of the corner. This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.” (Psalm 118:22‑23).
