Chief Executive Officer, David Bird, disclosed that the shortfall in domestic crude supply is significantly affecting the refinery’s operations and efficiency.

According to him, the gap in supply has compelled the refinery to purchase crude oil from abroad to sustain production, raising concerns about cost implications and supply stability.

Industry analysts note that the situation underscores ongoing challenges in Nigeria’s crude allocation and supply chain, despite the country’s status as a major oil producer.

The refinery, one of the largest in Africa, is expected to play a critical role in reducing Nigeria’s dependence on imported petroleum products. However, consistent crude supply remains essential to achieving its full operational capacity and stabilising the domestic energy market.
