Federal High Court Sentences Woman to Seven Years Imprisonment for Human Trafficking

The Federal High Court has sentenced Bose Jimoh to seven years imprisonment and imposed a total fine of N4 million for offences related to human trafficking and organising foreign travels for prostitution.

The judgment was delivered on May 2026, after the court found the defendant guilty on a four-count charge filed against her on October 15, 2025.

According to the court, Bose Jimoh was convicted for organising foreign travels that promoted prostitution and for exporting persons for exploitation, contrary to Sections 14(b) and 18 of the Trafficking in Persons Prohibition Enforcement and Administration Act (TIPPEA) 2015.

The court sentenced the defendant to five years imprisonment and a fine of N1 million on Count One for exporting persons with knowledge that they would be subjected to exploitation.

She was also sentenced to five years imprisonment and a N1 million fine on Count Two for a similar offence.

On Counts Three and Four, relating to organising foreign travel that promotes prostitution, the court sentenced her to seven years imprisonment and imposed a fine of N1 million on each count.

The conviction highlights ongoing efforts by Nigerian authorities to combat human trafficking and related exploitation offences across the country.
